Our Vision & Mission
To work towards achieving a ‘Sustainable, Climate Smart and Disaster Resilient Community’ ensuring prosperity, progress, peace and overall, well being of everyone, keeping environmental sustainability on top of all the activities. Villages become republics, self-dependent, generate local entrepreneurships, employment and income, stopping outmigration and attracting people who have migrated out towards “back to villages”.
We Are Non Profit Organization
Lok Paryavaran Siksha Sansthan (LPSS) is a voluntary organization established in 2003, inspired by the devastating cloudburst of 2002 in Gongarh village, Tehri district, Uttarakhand. The disaster claimed 36 lives, injured 50, and displaced hundreds, leaving a lasting impact on the region. Witnessing the tragedy, Shri Shyamlal Bhai, then only 21, was deeply moved and resolved to dedicate his life to helping affected communities. Guided by his spiritual mentor, Shri Shri Guruji BehariLal Ji of Lok Jeevan Vikas Bharti, he mobilized support for victims, leading to LPSS’s creation under the Societies Act 21 of 1860.
LPSS envisions a self-reliant, equitable, and harmonious society based on self-governance and sustainable development. Its mission focuses on rural livelihood security, natural resource management, and community education. It operates with a participatory approach, engaging families, local leaders, and active community members to ensure collective action.
We Are A Strong Team
Key initiatives include promoting education for sustainable development, improving the socio-economic conditions of the rural poor, and empowering women through awareness and skill-building activities. LPSS also conducts social awareness camps, emphasizing health, education, and disaster resilience. Notable achievements include securing increased compensation for cloudburst-affected families and establishing intervention centers in Sitakot and Gongarh for grassroots development.
Now, with 24 years of impactful operations, LPSS has transformed countless lives in the sub-Himalayan villages of Uttarakhand. It continues to focus on fostering resilience, empowering marginalized groups, and driving socio-economic growth through its community-centered strategies. LPSS remains committed to addressing pressing rural challenges, ensuring sustainable livelihoods, and promoting equity and justice
